Herdsmen’s and Farmers’ Clashes: Chief Eziefe Recommends Hydroponic Fodder Solution Technology Former Governor of Anambra State and delegate to the National Conference, Dr. Chukwuemeka Eziefe (CON), has recommended the use of Hydroponic Solution Technology to modernise the business of herdsmen. In a position paper distributed to delegates on Wednesday morning before the conference was adjourned, Chief Ezeife asserts that the acceptance and promotion of this technology by the various levels of Government in Nigeria will signal a positive revolution in animal husbandry in the country. He also assures that the technology, if adopted, will minimize the movement of herdsmen and herds, thereby removing or reducing the conflict between herdsmen and farmers. Chief Ezeife admonishes delegates that instead of confronting one another because of the practice of “antiquarian husbandry”, this new technology should be taken seriously by lobbying local, state and federal governments for its early adoption and promotion. Chief Ezeife describes the technology in detail: “The solution – the necessary modernization can be found in Hydroponic Fodder Solution Technology. This technology enables the production on folder on a regular basis – according to the capacity required.” He continues, “From seeding, to feeding, takes just six days. Fodder is produced as required irrespective of weather conditions, rain, soil conditions, desertification, climate change etc. The acceptance and promotion of this technology by the various levels of Government in Nigeria will signal a positive revolution in animal husbandry in the country. It will minimize the movement of herdsmen and herds, thereby removing, or reducing, the conflict between herdsmen and farmers.”
