Here I am looking ridiculous in the early morning and playing a favorite Christmas song Little Drummer Boy. This was a favorite of mine growing up and it is likely because of early sentimental attachments to this song, whose slow but driving rhythm and simple but compelling tune always sparked a sort of meditative state in me, that my first ever musical hallucination was a totally realistic rendition of this song that I at first couldnt believe awns actually being played somewhere around me. Easily a plurality and possibly a majority of my musical hallucinations involve Christmas music. Musical hallucinations tend to be of music of deep personal significance and that is why this Agnostically Tinged Neo-Animist is unapologetic about playing Christmas music during this season and calling it Christmas music. One day soon I will write an essay on what Christmas is and isnt and what modern attempts to make the season more inclusive do well and what they totally botch. But today, Im just here to play a favorite seasonal tune.
