Here I demonstrate the low bar box squat. The bar is placed lower on the back (just on top of the rear deltoids) in this variation. This exercise is very useful for developing force from a dead stop, recruiting the posterior chain muscles and reducing shear stress on the knee joint. This does however put more load on your lower back than a high bar Olympic style squat so wearing a belt is advisable and remember to brace your core hard before each rep.
