Here I have Part 2 of my poem... The Misadventures of Charlie Appleseed Episode 1: The Girl of My Dreams – Part 2 By Chad Gaul Back from where I left off, I was hiding behind the tree Watching Brice kiss Angela was painful to see The heartbroken and misfortunate would likely agree That Angela was never meant to be the girl of my dreams Feeling negative emotions without the slightest hint of glee I wanted to run away, tear my hair out and scream Maybe pick up an Uzi and go out on a killing spree Get a hold of yourself, Charlie; you really need to breathe Please don’t tell me “there’s more fish in the sea” Because like I said before she’s the only one for me The two reached the front door, as Brice got out his keys I watched them go inside, while I was crouched on my knees I crept up to the window, without stepping on the leaves They’re on the sofa, eating pizza with pepperoni and cheese He poked her, tickled her, and gave her butt a squeeze But then some winged critters were starting to bother me Black and yellow, with stingers, it was time for me to flee For I was Charlie Appleseed, and I friggin’ hate bees! “Get off me, get off me! Stop buzzing around my ear!” I angrily whispered so the neighbors wouldn’t hear As I reached the cellar door, I had nothing to fear Because those bees flew away, they were no longer near I snuck inside the cellar once I saw the coast was clear Happy to be inside, this was no time to cheer I climbed the narrow steps so I could stealthily peer If I feel down and hit my head, this would not be my year I heard them ran up the stairs, it was safe for me to appear Like a spy or James Bond, I could really make a career! But I had to remain silent, for as long as I was here I listened very closely without doing anything weird “Hey, baby, you want me to go downstairs and grab you a beer?” “Um, no thank you, Brice, I’ll just sit by the mirror” “How ‘bout I close this door and I show you my gear?” I couldn’t believe my ears! I thought to myself, “Oh, dear!” Brice was so arrogant; how could somebody not jeer? I almost laughed so hard, it would’ve brought me to tears Angela replied, “I think it’s time for me to go.” He said, “Not so fast, you naughty little girl” “You haven’t answered my question. I really want to know.” She stubbed his toe and said to him, “My answer is no!” When he shoved her on the mattress, my anger started to grow I knew what was on his mind; I was ready to blow Brice may be a pro at sports, but this jerk was so low He was slower and denser than Larry, Curly, or Mo No more being an Average Joe, a loser, or a zero I ran up the stairs, like some kind of superhero I barged into the bedroom and I said, “Leave her alone!” Brice looked at me and barked, “Get out of my house, you little gnome!” I was still in disguise, so my cover wasn’t blown But I’ve never been in a fight; that much I had known His grit was unsettling, so was his razor-sharp tone As a one-man army, I knew I had to hold my own As well as be brave and try to grow a backbone For I was Charlie Appleseed, I had no heart of stone Brice towered over me, burly and stern Like Andre the Giant with a ridiculous perm I was playing with fire; if I wasn’t careful, I’d get burned Within the pit of my stomach I could really feel it churn Normally, I would walk away with my back turned But I was in too deep; becoming a hero was what I yearned I was staring at Brice, like he was a contemptible germ “Don’t ever touch her again,” I said as my voice firmed But he scoffed at me and said, “That is none of your concern!” “If you don’t get out right now, I’m gonna crush you like a worm.” But when I protested, he grabbed me and I squirmed Angela shouted, “Get off him, Brice! You’re acting like a jerk!” Brice told her, “Shut up! He’s gonna get what he deserves!” I was thinking, “Do something! Hit him with an urn!” Suddenly I couldn’t breathe; he was crushing me like a worm Will I be able to show this jerk a lesson to be learned? And will the girl of my dreams give me the attention I deserve? Stay tuned and find out, for I will return… Tune in next Sunday for Part 3
