Here are 12 things you may not know about me. Comment or like and you, too, can be subject to this Facebook meme and I will give you a number. 1. I used to collect so many stray cats as a child that at one point we had 12 and I loved them all. Although I have no pets at the moment, I am a hardcore cat man. 2. I was a really mean older brother to my sister until about the age of 15 then we became best friends because I grew up. 3. I didn’t get my license or first car until I was 18. My first car was my dream car when I bought it using my own minimum wage earned money. It was a two year old 1996 white Camaro RS with ground effects, spoiler and T-tops. Oh and a sound system that rattled my mirror. 4. I won second place in the Colorado Future Business Leaders of America competition in Intro to Business at the age of 16 with an all expenses paid opportunity to compete at the National Conference which included my first flight, my first time in Disneyland, MGM, San Diego Wild Zoo, Sea World, Hilton Hotel and my first time meeting Winnie the Pooh who I love more than Mickey Mouse. 5. I don’t believe in supernatural beings (including ghosts), however I believe that we don’t yet fully understand nature and the human brain. Although I was raised a strict Jehovah’s Witness within the Christian faith and am no longer affiliated with it, I look forward to exploring and learning more about other non-Christian teachings especially those that my native ancestors practiced. Mother Nature is my church on the rock so I love to hike. 6. I did not become involved in Colorado Politics until 2008 while registering voters and then later volunteering for the DNC in Denver driving Ramona and Joelle Martinez as well as Eva Longoria and Rosario Dawson. Joelle and Ramona were kind enough to invite me (a complete stranger) into their home and nearly every function of the week including the convention itself where I also met Stevie Wonder. 7. I have never and will never jump from a plane or bungee cord. I won’t until I’m 100 which I plan on living to. That way if I die, at least I would have lived my life. 8. My father is from Huajuquilla, Jalisco Mexico, the oldest of 9 and was the first to immigrate to the US at the age of 16. He was deported 8 times before he was finally able to get documentation and eventually his citizenship, but he never gave up his dream. 9. My mother is from Montaner, New Mexico, the second oldest of 8 and was raised by her grandmother (a curandera aka medicine woman) until the age of 16 when she moved to Longmont, CO to live on the farm with her mom and dad and younger siblings. 10. I was taught that it is disrespectful to waste your food, so I always clear my plate and I can eat absolutely anything (except for dil pickles) even if it’s every single day and still completely and thoroughly enjoy every bite which I take my time with because I am a very slow eater. I prefer my tortillas cold and since my dad liked corn tortillas and my mom liked flour, I am bi-tortillas. 11. On my mom’s side, my great great grandfather Mariano Lovato was documented on the Census of 1900 in Albuquerque New Mexico titled, “Pueblo Indians.” Within this lineage, I am also a descendent of Geronimo. 12. I have been single my entire life and rarely date, however as idealisticly unrealistic as it may sound I do plan on getting married, adopting under-privileged children and rebuilding my cat plantation. Or at least try to.
