Every year Muslims practice this month with a whole new spirit and aspire to get closer to God. Muslims believe that fasting is not just about not eating or drinking; instead fasting is an act of self restraint and meant to purify the soul, witness the hunger and the thirst that the poor and needy have to face throughout their lives. Fasting brings back the lost brotherhood between people since during Ramadan, Muslims are encouraged to forgive one another and build the bond of love. The meal also prevents one from the starvation that he or she would feel without it. Sleep:This is averyimportant aspect for every human being, especially for a person who isfasting. Drinking a lot of water during suhur and dinner (when breaking the fasting), also known asiftar, will allow the system to cleanse itself, and will stop one from dehydration. Dates are usually eaten the moment one breaks their fast, but dates should also be taken during suhur. The natural sweetness of Dates provide instant energy.
