Here are a couple of pictures to show the extent of damage the local mines have caused to Mount Sugarloaf. This has been going on for a long time now and its only been today that I managed to beat the security guys and actually get some photos. They keep filling the cracks with crushed blue metal and road base but its a bandaid solution cause the mountain is constantly moving. I can run in one direction and by the time Ive turned back around cracks have formed across the fire trail. This one I photographed today is 1m wide and 3m deep it was about 12m in length, its been filled across the trail but the fill was collapsing. I spoke to a couple of contractors a few weeks ago and they said that people would be shocked if they knew the real extent of it, they said they have seen the cracks up to 5m wide and 30m deep. So careful if your on the Sugarloaf Range and Wakefield Fire trail. #LakeMacquarieCityCouncil #GregPiper #NatureConservationCouncilNSW #MountSugarloaf
