Here are a couple of thoughts that the Lord has placed on my heart - TopicsExpress

Here are a couple of thoughts that the Lord has placed on my heart and has been dealing with me in: "Eternity has been set in our hearts." That is one intriguing comment that a lot of people seem to contemplate. I find it fascinating because as Christians we believe in Christ’s second coming, we believe that one day, we will be taken up into heaven to be with God for eternity. Yet on the other side of the scale, there are many agnostics and atheists who pose the question, “do you believe in life after death”? ”Do you believe in the here-after”? They will grapple over it for a little while and then dismiss the question because they never seem to find the relevant answer. The same thing is with God, we don’t understand Him, so we completely reject the idea that God is real. Why? Because the world views Christianity as foolishness. However, even in Romans 1 Paul declares that we all have to make a choice between: whether or not we are going to believe the truth. Our culture has exchanged the truth of God for a lie, their hearts have been blinded, and it is our job to be a light to as many as possible. With that said, Romans 1:16-17 “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘But the Righteous man shall live by faith.’” This is a very powerful passage. Often times we try and fight this passage of Scripture. We look for other ways of sharing God’s love with other people that do not include the Gospel message. Often times we try and love people by taking an interest in their hobbies, family and work life. We think that friendship evangelism is the best way to go, but how many times do we go in with the intention to make friends and then share the Gospel? People see right through that. We think it is so much easier to go this route that we often forget that the meaning of loving people requires us to spread the Gospel of Christ. Paul was under an obligation, his task was to preach to the Jew first and then the Greek. He preached to the young and the old, the rich and the poor, the wise and the foolish. It did not matter who that person was, his mandate was to preach to all people. I understand that often times preaching can be very scary, however. We have not been given a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.
