Here are a few things I took away from my whirlwind trip to West - TopicsExpress

Here are a few things I took away from my whirlwind trip to West Texas this weekend. 1.) Its hot, dusty, and flat. DUH! 2.) There are more jobs there than there is for housing for people to live! 3.) Due to this demand, the starting wages at Wal-Mart and other jobs are in the $14-$15 range per hour. 4.) There are For-Hire signs on every store, sidewalk, and business there. 5.) Texans like their trucks. No Toyotas or Nissans. All American made, jacked up, and they even have special Texas versions. 6.) The cost of living is not much different than it is here as far as goods & services. I was not there long enough to see about taxes, insurance, and such. 7.) Texas is not all about oil either. They had thousands of huge wind turbines all along the horizons for as far as can see. Those things are huge... 8.) Their roads are flat and smooth as butter. 9.) They talk like us. 10.) Their Highway Patrol is very friendly and welcoming to those moving into their state. ;) 11.) Due to the demand in housing, the construction industry is booming out there too. 12.) You can see for miles in every direction. 13.) The dust is everywhere, and so fine, like talcum powder. And it gets everywhere. ...and lastly... I left my oldest son there to follow his dreams, and I miss him very much.
