Here are a few things that should make you think about signing petitions against deforestation, drilling the arctic, sensible Tuna fishing and shark finning, just a few of the successes of Greenpeace petitioning. 1. Shell Oil suspended drilling in the arctic, although this is outside the protection zone it gives valuable time to lobby for extending the arctic protection zone. 2. Asia Pulp & Paper (APP), Indonesias largest paper manufacturer committed to stop deforestation of Indonesias rainforest. Wilmar International the worlds largest palm oil trader announced a no deforestation policy as a result of pressure from Greenpeace. This is a massive step towards ending for good the destruction of the orangutans habitat. 3. Walmart changed its policy on responsible caught Tuna. 4. Three shipping companies agree to no longer carry Icelandic whale meat. 5. The New Zealand government set out proposals to making Shark Finning ileagle. 6. Yum, the largest restaurant company in the world committed to only using packaging from forest friendly paper, so now you can eat your KFC and Pizza Hut takeaways knowing that the packaging comes from a sustainable source.
