Here are a few tips for getting your home ready for winter. The tip about getting your hose bib drained is really important. My neighbor who recently moved in came over during the really cold spell last month and asked for help because she had water spraying from a hose bib that had frozen and ruptured. Unless you have a fairly new hose bib, there should be a valve inside the house on the pipe going to the hose bib. Close the valve inside then go outside and open the spigot and let the water out.
