Here are my top 10 favorite lair shows this year: 10. Blurring, Avulsion, Ish Kabibble - Danny Lilker played the Lair. But that wasnt the focal point of the show. Blurring did an amazing instrumental set that blew my mind. Avulsion was great, seeing that they dont play often these days, and Ish Kabibble proves that you (cuz Gus will always be better) need to practice your instrument. 9. NOISE SHOW - Painted Faces, Isa X, Amish Noise, (.....), Daniel Drexel, Ancients of Earth - this was truly unique, local bands/musicians doing something different and the very cool touring acts. 8. Zacks birthday show - awesome metal party! Nazgul (before they were famous), Prepare for the Mindscan, Order of the Dead, Cain cover set, Warhead, and Hellcannon ripped the lair apart in what is probably the moshiest set ever! 7. Nuklear Hellfrost, Boddicker, Victim of Circumstance/Controlled By Fear - the show started off with The Lairs first battle set! That was an amazing display with such cramped quarters. Then Boddicker and Nuklear Hellfrost brought the blackened grind and kicked ass! 6. Opposition Rising, Disaster Strikes, One Way Terror, DWI - besides being told to form unions between every DS song, this was a great punk rock show, much moshing, lots of energy, great vibe. 5. Darker Half, Burning Shadows, Volker, Tyranitar - Power metal show!!! - This was great, Joe Tonaus won two bottles of mead, Darker Half was spot on, what a rare show in Buffalo! 4. darsombra, Amish Noise, Ancients of Earth, The Highest Leviathan. This was a mega trippy heavy show. Darsombra came and gave everyone a dose of musical LSD. 3. Ruined, Ish kabbible, Kratom, Daniel Drexel - Great atmosphere, all acts had 2 members or less, and no guitars in any of the duos! 2. Deathhammer (Official), Rotten (UK), Cain - This punk metal hybrid was a last minute effort booked just 8 days before but the attendance was great, the energy was incredible, and Deathhammer was stoked to play a basement. Proxy Mngt 1. The Great Sabatini, Cavern, Ancients Of Earth, Starve, Sun Black Smoke. What a show. Every band was damned amazing, Cavern is my favorite band to have ever played The Lair and I cant wait to see them again (saturday january 17th at northrup!)
