Here are reasons why I believe that the brothers testimony - TopicsExpress

Here are reasons why I believe that the brothers testimony regarding supposed moon sighting on Friday June 27th, 2014 in Houston, TX bears no weight and should have been disregarded fully: 1. The moon set only 12 minutes after sun. It set at 8:40pm in Houston, tx while the Sun set at 8:28pm. This time is not sufficient to view the moon. There should be at least 25 minutes to be able to see the moon. He said he saw for 10 minutes; being 10/12 is impossible. 2. It was cloudy in Houston and stayed cloudy till 11pm. 3. The brother said someone pointed to him the moon up there and he saw it. The moon being so small would not have been up there, but rather way down, close to the horizon, and not visible that easily. 4. He said they saw the moon for 10 minutes meaning he missed the Maghrib prayer trying to see the moon, thus making him a non-trustworthy witness. 5. I tried to look for him after Salatul Taraweeh, but could not find him. I asked many people as to where he was, but no one seems to have known or seen him. My father said that he saw him, but he does not come for prayers usually. So, apparently he just came that day. 6. No one asked him exactly where he saw the moon. What was the shape of the moon. What was its size. To verify his honesty, trustworthiness, competence. 7. A novice person may be honest, but is not competent to see the moon. He/she may have seen a cloud, a plane, smoke, etc and thought of it to be moon. 8. Why did the Imam of the masjid (Shaikh Syed) not go out to see the moon himself. He made the Maghrib prayer 18 minutes long, which made the prayer end at 8:47pm, going out of the time where the moon could have been seen. After maghrib he announced that they will look for calls from other cities to see if they see the moon. Why did he not first look into his own city. I have never seen him go observe the moon. In fact, other times on the moon sighting days, he has made maghrib salats very long as well. 9. According to moonsighting, it was not possible to see the moon on the 27th night in the ENTIRE United States; So, how could it be seen in Houston. It still cites that even on the 28th, it may not be seen in many countries around the world. In fact, it was not visible in Pakistan even on the 28th. 10. I have had calls from California where they have told me that they did not see the moon there. They said that Houston has created fitna for them by supposedly seeing the moon. 11. Shaikh syed, being so observant of other countries problems and the trajedies facing the Muslim nation through different media, did not know that the moon was only visible for 12 minutes and the person saying it could have been lying. 12. Big countries such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Morooco, Lybia, and Egypt did not see the moon. Even other states such as California did not see it so how could we see it in between. 13. An Android App called Lunafaqt showed no moon in Houston. 14. Google Skymap (Android map) also did not show the moon to be visible. I checked the whole night of 27th, but it was not visible. It became visible around 11am CST in the application so whoever saw it before this should amend their ways. Maybe we can learn a few things from the kuffar and give our matters to them if we cant get this right. 15. Its not this post that I want to mention that its the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to go see the moon himself and have people knowledgeable in the seeing of the moon so no doubts are created. I am writing this post to give advise to our Imams, Shuyukhs, leaders as all the sin of those people that fast will befall them. They should educate themselves and lead their communities using the technology while not ignoring the traditional way, which makes Islam the beautiful and easy religion itself. I say these thing and I ask Allah to forgive me. If I have said something wrong its from myself and I ask Allah to forgive me and the rest of the Muslims. Babar Waheed June 28, 2014 3:35pm CST.
