Here are recaps from last weeks middle school cross country meets and soccer match.... The girls team fell to a tough Franklin Township East team but finished 2nd overall beating West. Shayla Traas dominated the field with her blistering time of 11:54 and commanding 1st place finish. Kayla Shepherd was a strong 4th place finish with her PR of the season. Hannah Chandler, Hailie Shepherd, Alexa Peak, Megan Goldman,and Marissa Hancock rounded out the Varsity. Abby Colson, Hayleigh Ellis, Emily Johnson, and Rachel Kelley all put in strong performances. The girls run again next Tuesday at Mt. Vernon where they look to build on their 3-1 season. Good luck ladies! The boys cross country team battled team a pair of Franklin Township teams this week. The top finishers for the Hornets were Tyler Osborn (13th), Jon-Karl Vuskalns (15th), Gavin Hess (16th), Marcus Traas (17th). Coy Doyle, Isaiah Gwinn, Alex Lagle, Trent Eckstein, Carson Collinsworth, Bradley Black, and Collin Eckstein also put in strong performances. Good Luck to the Hornets as they compete at Mt. Vernon next week. The boys soccer team faced Heritage Christian on September 2 and were defeated 10-0. Goalie, Josh Copenhaver had 23 saves on goal and goalie, Angel Fonseca had 5 saves on goal. Congratulations to the Marching Hornets! They had a great start to their competition season...they earned a first place finish in their Class C bracket and received caption awards for General Effect and Visual!
