Here are some great memories for some of us older folks, VELLUTATOS AMBER HOUSE Grand Opening may 9th 1959. It was also Mr & Mrs Vellutatos 36th wedding anniversary too. Such a sweet family. I was told their first store was on Billingsport Rd near the fire house. Their second location was at the corner of Delaware & Monroe Sts ( Across from Haussmans Store) . I started hanging out at VELS , in 1962 when I was in 8th grade at the high school. After school this place was packed like any other deli /soda fountain where teenagers gathered anywhere in the country. The building is still there across from the high school and currently closed. It has had several owners and many types of businesses over the years.
