Here are some photos and a review from Danielle Leigh! Hope you enjoy the review and photos “What members of staff do you remember the most and why? Oussama El Bahri, Fatimazahra El Hafidi and Fatimzzahra Molyn, the coordinators when we were there were so funny, friendly and welcoming and I am still in touch with them today. (Also another male coordinator but I cant remember his name! He was very friendly while we were there though). What were your impressions of the accommodation? Impressions of the accommodation are good, although only 1 shower worked! Have you done any similar volunteering before? No I havent. Why did you want to volunteer? Volunteering has been a long term dream of mine and so I wanted to do some as soon as I finished uni. How did you find the children’s reactions to you and other volunteers? The children were wonderful! So appreciative and welcoming. What did you do for fun in your free time? In our free time we went to the Ouzoud waterfalls where we hiked, had a boat trip, fed wild monkeys, went swimming and enjoyed a wonderful meal. We stayed overnight in a traditional Berber house where we learnt how to make mint tea, tajine and bread and climbed up a mountain. We also explored the souks and did a lot of shopping, enjoyed drinks at night in La Salama bar, visited the local swimming pool and sunbathed on the roof terrace. I also got a pedicure, massage and hamaam at one of the local spas. Some volunteers went to the Sahara and did activities such as quad biking as well but I chose not to. When was your most enjoyable experience? My most enjoyable experience was a day swimming with the kids from a local youth club at an animal farm. We splashed around in the pool all day and enjoyed a wonderful meal together with random peacocks and kittens around! How easy was it to make friends? Very very easy to make friends. What were the names of the best places to hang out and socialise, why was this? La Salama, a chilled out bar that we all went to. It was buy one get one free cocktails all night and a very beautiful, relaxing place to unwind. Would you consider going again or perhaps to another project with Original Volunteers? Yes I definitely would! What would you say/recommend to a friend who was interested in volunteering? Id tell them to go for it. What items would you suggest future volunteers pack? Females pack modest clothes, especially if you are volunteering during Ramadan. Aside from that you really wont need much. What items do you think are essential for daily use at the projects? For the projects, colouring books are essential, the kids also LOVE loom bands, I cannot stress this enough!!! Playing cards are great for snap, and also balls and skipping ropes for when there is outside space.” originalvolunteers.co.uk/destinations/africa/morocco.html
