Here are some shots from my visit to see The Aluminum Overcast, a B-17 bomber from World War II. It was the first time I had seen the bomber in person, and I had two major impressions. One, the aircraft seems tiny in comparison to modern day jetliners and two, I am even more impressed by the courage and perseverance of the young men who flew those bombing missions. The protagonist of my novel series Beyond the Blue Horizon, Otto Kerchner, flew such a bomber, The Mata Maria in the first book of the series, On Wings of the Morning, which came out about a year ago. (Ill caption these pictures later on.)
