Here are some things I learned from watching The Wolverine (and if you want to avoid spoilers, move along please, because I’m going to spoil the shit out of it). 1. If you are a mutant with healing ability, you can shake off the effects of an atomic bomb in about ten seconds. If you are human, a big chunk of iron door will do just fine. 2. Logan gives a bit of thought to becoming normal (i.e. losing his mutant abilities) even though Hank McCoy could have just handed him a hypodermic full of cure in X3. 3. If Japanese people are talking to each other in Japan, with no English-speaking people around, they will suddenly stop speaking to each other in subtitled Japanese and suddenly start speaking in English for no reason. 4. If you’re a scary mutant snake lady, you can survive a sword in the chest by, um, shedding your skin. 5. If you’re rescuing the granddaughter of a billionaire industrialist who’s being held somewhere in a snowy mountain headquarters, even if you have access to some of the finest cars in the world, it is better to take a couple of motorcycles instead. Because they maneuver so much better in the snow. 6. If you cut Logan’s claws off at the knuckle, fusing the stumps with a high-temperature cutting tool, his original bone claws will miraculously grow back, right through the metal stubs of his skeleton. 7. And best of all, even in an exhausted state, Logan can still summon up super-strength to literally tear apart a suit of adamantium armor WITH HIS BARE HANDS!
