Here are some wonderful pictures of Cola, now called, Bird. Heres what her mom, Lauren, says about her: Thank you so much, RLFT, I cant tell you how much I adore this dog. Shes a perfect gem. When we brought her home we sat on the floor with her for a while, just loving her and getting acquainted. I finally gave her a stuffed chicken (an homage to the golden I lost a few months ago, chicken was one of his nicknames). She was so pleased with it. She ran around the living room, shaking it and tossing it back and forth. Then suddenly she stopped, came over to me, sat perfectly between my legs and pressed her head against my chest, chicken still in her mouth. We sat this way silently for quite some time, it was powerful stuff. She is a perfect joy and I am so glad I set aside my fears that it was too soon after losing my last golden at Thanksgiving to try and let another one in. She has stolen my heart completely. She loves to play with toys and balls and will entertain herself if Im working in the office or busy with something else (often she falls asleep mid-stream, even with a dinosaur on her face). She has ignored every dog bed in the house and adopted the sunny spot in front of the front door (on a rug on the tile) as her favorite spot. She hasnt touched anything that doesnt belong to her. She hasnt made a sound, other than contended snoring while being scratched. No idea if she even knows how to bark! :) So much for language barriers, she comes when called (by name or her own whistle), knows to wait at the entrance of the kitchen even when Im making her breakfast or dinner. She is getting the hang of sleeping on a king-sized bed. Shes picking up hand signals like a champ. Were starting obedience school soon only because Id like to get her tested for the Good Canine Certificate. She would be a perfect therapy dog, so thats our goal. Thank you for all you do. Its been five days, but I already cant imagine my life without her. She isnt filling the hole left by my beloved Hank (and Dakota and Jake before him), but creating her own special spot right beside that. Bird is one lucky girl! Shes found her perfect family!
