Here are the details to the protest with our :: comments :: below each of them. 1. To ensure the United States of America comply with the 1893 Lili‘uokalani assignment & Agreement of restoration, 1899 Hague Convention, IV, the 1949 Geneva Convention, IV, and international law, as hereinafter described; :: Comment: What this part addresses is the treaty power of the agreement between Queen Liliuokalani and U.S. Grover Cleveland. Cleveland promised the Queen that the Hawaiian Kingdom government would be restored, but that didnt happen. The agreement itself, made by two executives of states has treaty power. 2. To ensure that the United States of America establishes a military government, to include tribunals, to administer and enforce the civil and penal laws of the Hawaiian Kingdom pursuant to the 1893 Lili‘uokalani assignment and Article 43 of the 1907 Hague Convention, IV, as hereinafter described; :: Comment: This has everything to do with the process of ending an occupation and not empowering the U.S. military. Occupations involve a foreign military force. The process of ending the occupation requires that the foreign military force leaves. Hawaii is unique in that the foreign military force not only occupied our country, but the occupying country began settling (moving in a civilian population) in our country -- which is actually a war crime. The strategy here seems to be a by the book process to end the occupation. I, like many of you, have concerns with empowering the U.S. military to exercise authority to oversee the transition. However, as I think more about it, theres not much of a difference than it is now -- either were being oppressed by their police force or their military force. How do we protect ourselves during this transition? I would suggest that we need a police force or military of our own that the U.S. would have to work with during the transition. I dont like the idea of angry Americans with guns having to oversee this transition. 3. To ensure that all member States of the United Nations shall not recognize as lawful the United States of America’s presence and authority within the territory, territorial seas, exclusive economic zone and airspace of the Hawaiian Kingdom, except for its temporary and limited authority vested under the 1893 Lili‘uokalani assignment and Article 43 of the 1907 Hague Convention, IV, as hereinafter described; :: Comment: Its pretty straight-forward here. The U.N. should not recognize the U.S. as lawful here in Hawaii. Its an attempt to restore validity to our position as independent and lawful. 4. To ensure full reparation for the injury caused by the serious breach of obligations and internationally wrongful acts in the form of restitution, compensation and satisfaction, whether singly or in combination. :: Comment: This part is asking the U.N. to enforce payback for all the hardships we have endured during the prolonged occupation. I dont think any of us will become millionaires out of this, but we will surely have the means to live a long and happy life -- which is worth more than millions (i kou manao). hawaiiankingdom.org/blog/hawaii-files-protest-with-un-general-assembly/
