Here are two florals i did this year. The first is a copy of a masterwork - in this case- Delphiniums in a White Vase by Grant Wood. We know him for his iconic American Gothic but this I had never seen before. It is in the permanent collection if the Cummer Museum in Florida. Copying a masterwork is a practice of mine and a workshop in itself. The zinnia painting I began in July when my vase full of tall garden zinnias became heliocentric and curled in the sunny sill. In both, shadows create the composition.
