Here goes...my countdown to Thanksgiving-- Thanksgiving Thoughts....Thought #1...Tonight, I was standing in line at McDonalds, ordering whatever I wanted because I could afford to, after delivering two goats to their new home who rode in my beautiful Logan Horse trailer, pulled with my old but well maintained F 250 Ford Truck...all this after working and getting paid for doing what I love...after sleeping in my nice warm, clean home the night before.....The point in all this is...I was standing behind a nice looking gentleman, not really dressed for the weather, and there is no other way to put this, he was pretty dirty. He had a bag with some beverages in it, and he ordered a large coffee with 14 sugars and 3 creams in it...He barely had enough change to cover the cost...dug deep in his pockets and in the end the clerk chipped in. I thought to myself...Geeze...Therefore but the Grace of God go I....while he was waiting for his order...I whispered to the clerk...Id like to buy that gentleman a food card, which I did. When the clerk gave it to him...he was shocked....Now...Im not sharing this story for any glory or anything...I am sharing this story because I didnt know this man. He could be a father...he could be a teacher...he could be a homeless person...He could a soldier...but I didnt know his story...What I did know is that it was cold out, it was raining, he wasnt really dressed for the weather...he bought something hot to drink...and he was a fellow human being...Down on his luck...Maybe...Maybe its his choice to live the way he wants...period...Not my call to judge....Tonight, I give great thanks for what I have...and I pray that I might take time each day to look around and acknowledge what I have been given...and not complain about stupid little things...cause they dont count...what counts is how we treat each other....and if we see the face of Jesus in every face we look at...and the greatest commandment is this...Love one another as you would love yourself...
