Here goes nothing. Been thinking of this proposal for a while and with some help got it together to post. Burning Sword Rank: 15 Length: 750 Syllables Range: Caster Cost: 3 Spell points Duration: 24 Hours Area of Effect: 1 Creature Material Component: White sword with a red cover The proposal is to create a weapon, a Mage sword, that can make combat a bit more interesting aside from fireballing. Burning Hands is a great spell for close quarters, though it also comes with a lot of risk that makes it rare to use. The general idea here is improving on that idea and instead let it take the form of a sword. Burning Sword is a single white sword with a red cover, will be treated like a weapon composed of fire, or in other words a magical item. An adventure only spell that after equipped will last a full 24 hours before recast, regardless of a Mages death. It is also neither transferable or a spell that can be pouched. Burning Sword has 3 charges, and it takes 3 hits using all 3 charges to destroy a shield. A Mage may recharge it after all 3 charges have been used. A charge is only lost through a successful strike. When using a charge, a Mage is to call “burning white” to signal to the other players your intention. Burning Sword has no effect on regular players, though of course will do fire damage to creatures at an elders discretion.
