Here in Atlanta we have quite a significant pet overpopulation problem. Too many dogs in shelters that need our help. But in a way we are lucky here. Atlanta is a major city with many people and rescues willing to help. Our shelters euthanize humanely when they must. Before I lived here, I volunteered with a very rural shelter in NC, the Granville county shelter in Oxford. They use a gas chamber to euthanize their animals. There are few volunteers and even fewer rescues. I have NEVER in all my years of rescue worked with a more dedicated group of people. This video was put together by my friends at Granville. As of February 1, 2015, the gas chamber in NC will no longer be legal. Things are changing, but change comes slow in southern states. I miss you ladies. Good work. Keep up the fight. A change gonna come....
