Here in Holland were waiting for the arrival of #Sinterklaas. No, hes not Santa Claus but a completely different character and he arrives on December 5 instead of Christmas Eve. I will be writing a blog about it after I take pics of the event tomorrow. The main discussion will not be about him thought but his friend Zwart Piet, a mischievous and silly man who is the one to actually deliver the presents. Why is he so controversial you ask? Because he is a person of color and hes usually portrayed with exaggerated red lips, tacky colorful clothing and hes Sinterklaas servant. There are some issues that for us foreigners are not an issue at all for the Dutch. Watch the video below and see why its being coined the Colonial Hangover.
