Here in Northern California we are having an epic storm. About 5AM - TopicsExpress

Here in Northern California we are having an epic storm. About 5AM this morning our very large box elder tree fell on the house. Fortunately, the tree hit a birch tree on the way to the roof, so by the time it hit, it didnt damage anything. OK, actually, it mostly destroyed the birch tree and possibly a bent rain gutter. The half of the tree (It split in half, just to clarify, half in the field, half on the house) that fell into the field took down a part of the fence. That tree was so big, each half was a tree unto itself. Were also very lucky in that the neighbor below us owns a tree service. He took a look in the early afternoon and a few hours later, he had his team removing the tree safely from around the house. This was complicated by all the broken branches propping up other broken branches, so yeah. You have to know what youre doing in a situation like that. Hell be back later to remove the rest. This is the same man who had two of his workers rescue my cat from Day 4 of Stuck 30 up a Eucalyptus tree a couple years ago. (Raul, my hero, climbed 30; up that tree, but his co-worker was manning the on-the-ground efforts. They came by after theyd already worked all day.) Hes a great neighbor, and the men who work for him are wonderful, too. And there is a happy story for everyone.
