Here in Norway, when saying goodbye, they say har det bra which literally translates to have it good and on Fridays they say god helg which means happy weekend. Its a culture of greeting one another well wishes and to have a happy time. It took me a while to get used to reciprocating the wishes, my colleagues and the office reception folks are always saying good morning when we meet, and have a good evening when leaving. Mondays start with recap with what we did during the weekend. We went to the cabin I went to the beach I took my cat for a walk (that last one would be me :-) ) They ask how you are, and it isnt just formality. Just an observation of the culture I am living in.
