Here is Mike Wallaces press conference, only Brandon Gibson is speaking for him. You see Mike was held out of the 2nd half of a RIVALRY GAME the game with the Jets. with the outcome in balance. He was held out because he was close to a contractual bonus and continuing to play him would put them in a fiscally disadvantageous position. Now while playing Wallace or not in 2nd half of the game, wasnt the determining factor. (The defense giving up 400 yards & 23 points in the 2nd half was) The fact that offenses only scored 7 points in the 2nd half certainly didnt help. For me the big take away is that this proves that winning is secondary to this team (& Stephen Ross) and the priority is dollars & cents. This sends a message, a bad message to the locker room and should do so to the fans as well. This coaching staff will be back next year, how do you think the team is going to respond to them after doing something like that? How would you react? The bottom line is this staff needs to build trust with the players, and they cant do that because the organization (which is run by Dawn Aponte) doesnt really care about winning they care about MONEY!! (and keeping their jobs) Philbin keeps this job because he is a marching boy for those orders by Aponte who keeps Ross in profit and she promises him they will win someday. But you cant win, if winning isnt your #1 priority from top to bottom. A decision like benching your #1 WR in a game to finish the season over .500, against your rival (the Jets) at home, in the same position that you lost a heart breaker the year before, just to save the organization some money is what losers would do.
