Here is Moms Monty Python-esque phone call with Manulife Financial today: Mom: I am calling to see if you have fixed my name in your computer, which I requested 7 years ago, 5 months ago and again last week. Rep: Yes. We have Aislynne in the first name field & a period in the last name field. Mom: But the company requesting a fund transfer has me listed as a period for my first name & Aislynne as my last name. Is the transfer going to go through? Rep: It might not. Mom: So if the transfer might not go through, can you change it so a period is in the first name field & Aislynne is in the last name field? Also, then your computer will be able to find me under a last name search. As it is now, you can not find me with a last name search Rep: If you want us to switch Aislynne period with period Aislynne you need to send in a name change request document. Mom: But you already have me in your computer as only having one name!! Rep: Yes but we have a period in your last name field, and Aislynne as your first name Mom: So put a period as my first name and Aislynne as my last name and that will solve the problem! Rep:We can not change your name without a written name change request Mom: But i sent in THREE requests already along with my bc& drivers licence!! You already know I only have one name! Rep: Yes but we have Aislynne as your first name & a period as your last name. We can not switch it to a period for the first name & Aislynne as the last name without a written name change request. Mom: But I only have ONE name! I dont have a first or last name, just ONE name! Rep: Yes but we have a period as your last name. Mom: But my name is not AISLYNNE PERIOD!!!! It is just AISLYNNE!! You have entered a period because YOUR computer system needs something in both name fields!!! Why can you not switch the period with the Aislynne in the last name field so you can find me under a last name search & so that my transfer request from Tangerine will go through?? Rep: We can not change Aislynne period to period Aislynne without a written name change request. Mom: I need to speak with a supervisor.
