Here is Richard Simmons reaction yesterday when he heard that beginning Jan 5th, Gordo & I will be bringing back Morning Mayhem weekdays 7-9am on St. Louis newest sports station 1490 The Champ-Fox Sports Radio. First & foremost, Gordo and I are blown away by the responses from yesterdays FB post about our new show. Almst 550 likes and over 220 comments in less than 24 hours? WTF? Thank you so much. We are humbled and jacked at the same time. I will be posting more stuff leading up to Jan 5th. ATTENTION LADIES. I NEED YOUR INPUT- This FB comment by my good friend Babs really got my attention: Brian, as I am reading the comments on your return to radio, I note how many team sports savvy St Louis women are fans of the show. You present sports in an informative, entertaining and conversational way. Lets hear more comments from women who will look forward to your return with Jeff Gordon. I would love to get some feedback from the St. Louis female sports fans on why they like the show because most research says women do not like sports talk. I was always surprised by how many women listened to our show in the past. I guess I shouldnt be. Gordo and I take pride in doing our show as if we were sitting on bar stools, drinking beer and talking about what guys talk about. I think women like our show for 5 reasons: 1. They can be nosy and eavesdrop on our conversations- get inside our playbook if you will. Plus, women love sports. They make up 35-40% of the crowd at most sporting events. 2. Gordo and I dont try to come across as experts. We arent curing cancer or trying to solve world hunger. We are having fun while talking sports for Christ sake. 3. Our conversations are topical, we pick subjects that St. Louis fans care about and we only have guest on the show who are at least as interesting/entertaining as we are. Too many shows use guest as a crutch. Thats lazy radio. There needs to be a reason to have a guest on and that reason isnt to meet a guest quota. Guest should add to the show, not slow it down. Since we are both puckheads, we will have plenty of Blues players on. 4. Gordo and I can be very immature and are not afraid to make fun of ourselves. If we dont make you laugh, we have failed miserably. 5. We respect the listeners and we dont take them for granted. My goal is to be the best broadcaster I can be. Gordo and I would really enjoy some feedback: especially from the ladies.
