Here is a bicycle bought by Sara, for the family of her sponsor child Vicky, who lives 8kms deep in the bush with her large family. They can only be reached by motor cycle and it is a very scratchy experience from a pillion position. She is the youngest child and only girl. Mum and Dad are still alive but when we found the family dad was crawling around dragging his damaged leg behind him on the ground. They were unable to dig their garden and were starving. Vicky is now at school and dad has been able to get to the hospital for an operation so he is now walking and digging again. The bicycle has helped him to gt to the local trading centre to sell items grown on their land which is helping the family. We have not been able to get to the family for several months as the flooding was so severe that the Red Cross was called in to support people who lost their crops in the floods. Luckily these people are on higher ground and just lost some sim sim. Once the floods reduced, a lorry broke the only bridge between our office and their village. It may have been weakened as it was battered by the fast flowing and swollen river. Such is Uganda but such is the kindness of our lovely sponsors!!! Thanks to Sara and all of you out there. xx
