Here is a bit of insider information on the Vikings Stadium glass - TopicsExpress

Here is a bit of insider information on the Vikings Stadium glass controversy. Apparently the Vikings have been opposed to this change from day one, bringing in high-powered lawyers at the very first meeting with the Audubon. They claim that the change of glass will ruin the fan experience of the clear views through those windows. This glass is manufactured by the same MN company that will provide the normal glass. The cost is not apparently the real issue here; its the Vikings refusal to accept any change to their vision of the stadium. The bird-safe glass is more energy-effiicient, and would pay for itself in 10 years or less. So potentially thousands of birds will die yearly because obstinate, uncaring people make the decisions on this. This goes a long way toward changing the perception of our wonderful city as a leader in all things green. And there is nothing our city govt can do to force this change. And the Audubon has apparently backed off as well in order to protect itself from being seen as anti-corporate as they continue to try to promote changes to other sports franchises and corporate building plans. I, for one, will never set foot in that stadium, or support those who are carelessly pushing aside these issues which will, eventually, harm this injured planet further. Shame on them. I pray for all of us who must live alongside these unaware, unconscious and uncaring people.
