Here is a blast from the past. This is a video I rolled during the filming of one of the key scenes in TimeScapes up at the Bristlecone forest. Back then, there were not any off-the-shelf dollies like Kessler or camBLOCK to purchase. Only a small handful of people in the world had any kind of timelapse motion-control gear. Everything had to be hand made. I built this dolly in my dads garage with some help from the local blacksmith. It used a gravity winch system built on a lathe stepper motor modified by Bryan Mumford. This is why all my early dolly shots have a slight incline motion :) About 3 minutes after this video, it started raining. youtube/watch?v=AoCx6sOCTQE
