Here is a copy of the letter I am sending to our local paper - TopicsExpress

Here is a copy of the letter I am sending to our local paper calling our our Commisioners and others who supported the resolution last week. Tell me what you think: This letter is in response to the hate fest I experienced last week at the County Commissioners meeting. I am calling out all those in favor of the resolution, including each of the Commissioners that voted unanimously to pass the resolution in the name of health and safety for our citizens. I’m not going to deny I was completely dismayed by the lack of compassion and empathy for the refugee children coming to this area. But what I heard as the excuse over and over from everyone that spoke even from Judge King was that we have poor children in our county that need help. We have to help our poor first. I totally agree! I want to know what you are doing to help our poor children. Are you not the same group of people calling for budget cuts to any social program that helps the poor in our country? I would challenge you that if your goal is to help our poor children than you should be calling Senator Cruz and other representatives to pass actual legislation that will help them. Have you called your representatives and insisted they increase food stamps, work on welfare reform. Or have you insisted that they pass a jobs bill or reinstate the unemployment insurance? Have you asked your local representative to increase funds for school lunches or preschool programs? Anything at all that might help our poor children? If you have not then all your talk on that day was just that talk and excuses. So I challenge you! If you truly want to help then do something besides talk. Or is it that, just talk to hide behind your bigotry to avoid helping refugee children and our own children as well?
