Here is a detailed photograph of the profile of an older American Indian on this Poster From The Past. This is Family Dogs poster number #25 in their original series of posters. Unlike the photo of the Indian in the in the FD logo which was modified to give it a weird quality, this photograph by Edward S. Curtis was taken (around 1926) on the frontier and was unaltered for this poster. This Indian braves name was Black Bull and he was from the Blackfoot Tribe. The Psychedelic poster artists reflected the culture in which they were immersed, and this culture revered Native Americans as an example on how to live in harmony with the land. The photograph used on this poster was chosen to show respect for the Native American Culture. It is a Classic one wouldnt you say?! It was on this day 48 years ago, that The Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Great Society played for the second night of the two concerts at the Avalon Ballroom here in downtown San Francisco. What a Show! Printing records show that there were two nearly identical posters printed that totaled aprox. 2,500 copies. A third printing followed later on.This poster was created by the two Masters and Big Five psychedelic rock poster artists Stanley Mouse & Alton Kelly…… Mouse Studios. Share this Native American with a friend! I just did! Approved by Professor Poster
