Here is a family who has set a worthy example for others, and the family now needs our support.. Aduppootti Panakkal Babu, an ordinary Auto Mechanic, is no more. Apparently healthy and the lone bread-winner of a family in dire straits, Babu just collapsed while playing carroms with his friends earlier in Jan 2014 and was declared brain-dead by the doctors. Even in the hour of deep grief, Babus family realised the importance of organ donation. Their love for Babu or belief in superstitions did not come in the way of them donating babus vital organs to 5 other despairing individuals. Yes, Babu is no more. But Babu lives in the minds of people who know him. Not just that, there are 5 fortunate souls who are beginning to live a better life with the noble act involving Babus family. But let us spare a moment and thought for Babus family. They have set a role model of the rest of us in conveying the importance of life. They now need our support for their survival. Luckily we have seen people and authorities coming forward to form an action committee for reconstructing Babus dilapidated house and also for providing medical care for his ailing family. The rest of us need to contribute our best to help sustain this initiative so that Babus family can live with their heads high. This is not just to support one deserving family, but to convey the larger message on the importance of organ donation/transplantation. There is never a better day than today. Come on, let us join hands together for this noble cause.
