Here is a farm I used to work at. I gave up standing behind a chair and smelling chemicals to lift bails of hay, get bucked off horses, give riding lessons to children, stand at horse shows all day, talk until I had no voice, and coach way beyond what I was paid. One time while helping a student with her horse, he leaped in the air hit me as he came down and flipped me backwards. I landed on my head, and ended up on bed rest, no pay, for 3 weeks. Yep, I love the horse farm life. People would come to visit the farm and see all the manual labor being done by women and be astounded! Because we were all so fit. Hands down, farm work gets you in the best shape. Most trained athletes cannot do what a farm hand can. I know, when I would hire, the toughest athlete to help me on my farm, I always out worked them. This was after having 3 c-sections and having three small children to go with those surgeries. If you want to get in shape, and get paid to do it, work on a farm. When talking to a hay farmer yesterday, he told me, he cant find anyone that will help bail square bales of hay. So now he does round bales. As you see in this video, the owner of the farm, is doing the work. This type of information breaks my heart. :-( ! When I see great practices dying out, and not being replaced with other things that teach so many of lifes lessons, it breaks my heart and puts me on my knees. Children need to be able to experience the vastness of the great outdoors, and learn how to care for animals, and nature. Help us to see, how far we are from the mark!
