Here is a great article written by the singer of a great band. It also highlights an unfortunate reality though. This article, like many other articles written this year (and last) about the role of women in punk and independent music, was written by an artist. Most have been either written by artists as editorials or as solicited features by band members. Maybe in 2015 professional journalists will actual wake up to the reality of what is going on in the music scene and start writing similar features. Journalists can echo and expand the discussion being started by the artists, the way only good journalists can. Maybe 2015 will show that what is happening right now is a significant cultural movement worth journalists time. Whether this movement is acknowledged or not however, I am proud to be a part of this scene and look forward to even more improvement in 2015. Happy holidays everyone! -Joe Steinhardt
