Here is a little story for you all today. A day in the life of Jenn . . . you never know what or who to expect. I was shooting a large business out North today. They have a new guy in charge. As I walked in, I was greeted VERY WARMLY by their receptionist. Shes definitely in the running for favorite receptionist thus far. She was full of positive and bright energy and mightve given me 10 compliments before I even got back to shoot. As I was leaving I was standing there chatting a bit with her and another woman who was also behind the desk with her. The other woman jokingly mentioned something about the video helping her to find a husband. Then our conversation proceeded like this . . . Me - Have an AWESOME DAY! I hope you find yourself a husband! :D Receptionist - I need a husband too!! Mine betrayed me. :( :( Me - Oh - Im so sorry to hear that. Other Woman - Dont tell her that. Thats too personal. We shouldnt talk about things like that and well I can do better than you anyways. My husband died! Me - Oh really - Im so sorry. Then looking at the other woman It is totally fine that you told me, I dont mind at all. REALLY?? - Do we really need to live in a world where we shame people for vulnerably expressing their emotions wherever they may be?? The fact that the receptionist can make a human connection is sooooooooooooooo VALUABLE!! Gaaaaaaaaah - so frustrating. I fully understand that the other womans reaction was because she didnt want to deal with her own pain around her situation. However, I will take a caring, feeling human over a robot ANY OLD DAY. Tell me your thoughts on this topic . . . Are you all business or do you want to humanly connect too?
