Here is a long overdue recap and update (It’s quite long)!!! I’ll start with Easter (as it’s quick) NO shows due to windy weather. The first attempt to set up the ‘big’ show was a non starter due to weather and and infected cut on my knee. After a trip to Weymouth hospital I was feeling better and on antibotics. We managed to get the show set up on the following Saturday. Unfortunatly the antibiotics ‘unbalanced’ my gut and I ended up in pain and in bed for 4 days (I won’t bore you with the details – not nice)!! The 4 days out of action were the days set aside to get the inside of the show rigged up! As a result I had to work the first 3 days of the summer season using my new portable booth in front of the ‘big’ booth! The performances went really well, good playfull audiences – a great start. Away from the beach…… As many of you will know while I’m working in Weyouth I live in an old caravan. When I came up to start the season, I opened the door and was greeted with the smell of mice! On closer inspection I noticed the trail of distruction they had left – bunting, work hoodies, flags, canvas money bags, windbreaks and a big box of sales items! Not to mention all the other non work stuff in there – ALL have been since been destroyed! So, for the first time in about 17 years, I find myself living in VW van! Not a 1974 model this time. I should be focusing on performing but had to spend money and every minute making new bits to replace those things ruined. I did intend to completely rebuild the caravan at the end of the summer, not at the start!! Things are slowly getting done. The inside of the show is 90% done and a few things need to be done on the outside – should be ready by September! The ‘put-your-head-through’ photo board thingy has been designed by Su Eaton and looks amazing – but I only started painting it last night! Vetrons service and parade on Sunday, so as a mark of respect, I won’t interupt with the call of “Roll up – come and see the Punch & Judy show”……. Going to go home to see Dawn, Kaya, Tommy and Herb-e!! More soon. The Prof
