Here is a long overdue update on David. He is out of the hospital and at a rehab center for head trauma. Most of his external wounds have completely healed. And while he has gotten super skinny, he has begun doing physical, occupational, and speech (from his tracheotomy) therapy. He has been making an astonishing amount of progress for the short amount of time he has been there. Hes a little off balance but has begun walking on his own. Hes talking now, softly, but talking. And most importantly, his personality has been starting to show. The trademark smirk and the occasional flash of smartassedness. He gets tired quickly, and it will be some time still before the bruise on his brain diminishes completely. Probably within the next week or so we will start seeing visitors on the weekends. Please keep sending the prayers and positive vibes. The outlook is good for a full recovery, it is just going to take some time, patience, and lots of love. Also, while I dont enjoy asking for this, below is a link for monetary donations if anyone has anything they can spare. Stay-in rehab is pretty expensive and doesnt except medicaid. David didnt sign up for health insurance and was only working part-time since he had started taking classes again. We have the insurance thing mostly worked out, but benefits wont start until October. So in the meantime.. Everything is out of pocket. Every dollar helps, and I have a silent backer who has expressed a desire to match every dollar donated past the $1,995.00 already raised. We are also having a fundraiser on Sunday, August 24 at Fast Eddies Round Rock. There will be a tournaments for darts, pool, and washers, a silent auction, raffles, BBQ, music, a back waxing, and a whole lot more. It will be a fun event.
