Here is a monumentally sad story. Previously mentioned was Audrey Benge (1912-1948). She had married a Major Thomas Morris. In August of 1948, he shot and killed Audrey before turning the gun on himself leaving a daughter an orphan. The first picture shows Audreys brother, Tilford Benge Jr (with blood still on his face) and his neice, Patricia, as it appeared on the the front page of the Indianapolis IN Newspaper. The look in the little girls eyes is haunting. She looks absolutely terrified, and, rightfully so. Audrey and her brother Tilford Jr are 1st cousins 2x removed from Richard Carpenter ; Ben Carpenter; Butch Carpenter; Dave Carpenter; and Patty Brannum
