Here is a nice story about work being done by tiny Christ Church in Waverly: Christ Church, Waverly, is making a big difference in its community. Christ Church is one of 15 churches that make up Mission Ministries, a non-profit organization that operates a food pantry and provides financial assistance to families in need. The Mission Ministry food pantry serves approximately 200 area families monthly. In an effort to promote complete balanced meals, the food pantry distributes canned vegetables, canned fruit, meat, whole grain pasta, and a variety of breads. In addition to food assistance, Mission Ministry also has an ongoing outreach program that assists families monetarily with such things as utilities, rent, medical expenses and prescriptions. Members from Christ Church staff the food pantry at least six Saturdays a year. Each week, Christ Church volunteers also meet the Pepperidge Farm distributor to receive bread to be distributed by the pantry.
