Here is a photo from the eighties showing a Potter’s Field - TopicsExpress

Here is a photo from the eighties showing a Potter’s Field rejuvenated by Boy Scouts. More than a few of the crosses and markers then were original many were not. Obvious in this picture are crosses that are north of where Potter’s Field is currently designated. This is one of the best illustrations we have found (so far) that causes so many of us to continue to question the legitimacy of the current Potter’s Field boundaries. I have not spoken with a single person among a cross-section of ages that supports the new borders established by the Cemetery. I will admit to a generally good visual recall of old Corona and, as you know, believe the resting places extend further, particularly, north and under the pepper tree. I want those of you that never saw Potter’s Field and might even only now be learning about its existence to understand why we are so insistent and understandably emotional about what has happened. Compare this to your thoughts of any graveyard that you know. Now imagine it graded into a barren, flat surface. Chilling? Well, that is exactly where so many of our thought are about Potter’s Field and why we seek remedies to this unimaginable wrong. Here again is the photo I re-posted, originally posted by Diane Cervantes Rosales, showing her uncle and father, William “Gonzalo” Cervantes, at the gravesite of their baby brother. This was the only way the grieving parents could possess a photo of all three of their children. In 1932, a special arrangement would have needed to be made to preserve this poignant view. Working people could not afford a camera. Here is a picture of Mr. Cervantes taken last week at Potter’s Field. Imagine his emotions when he sees the Field scraped bare of all crosses and memorials. I do not want this community to forget about Potter’s Field again. There is a dedicated group, which all are invited to join, spreading the word and seeking remedies for this desecration of graves. I want to thank the Corona City Council, along with the staff of the City of Corona, for their genuine concern, advice and support. Without going into details, we have indeed found surprising documentation that encourages more research and high hopes that the answers to all questions will be found. We have every confidence in time that the system will work. Your encouragement has been most welcome and is greatly appreciated. Thank you all.
