Here is a portion from my post today on Roman Catholic Spiritual Directors: How did Venerable Concepción (Conchita) encounter this ray of light from her faith? She was a woman irresistibly drawn to the Eucharist. One night, while attending a function with her husband, she noted, “While in the theater, I was overcome by an extraordinary hunger for my Eucharistic Jesus…alive…and my spirit sighed, longing to receive him. I feel an overwhelming tendency to fly to him, or better, to get closer to my Jesus, I know not in what intimate and absolute way. I am drawn by this divine attraction…it is as if I were the air and the Lord absorbed me or breathed me in. I cannot find the words to explain it…but my spirit, my thought and my will are destined to be there, as if they were nowhere else, but in its center. If I could only faithfully translate the feelings of my soul and write them down! But there is no dictionary, no language suitable for making me understood as I would wish.
