Here is a revised version over Rebecca Larson. Rebecca was raised - TopicsExpress

Here is a revised version over Rebecca Larson. Rebecca was raised by her grandmother until she passed away several years ago. At that time, Rebeccas other Tucson family members helped raise her until she graduated high school and moved to NAU /Flagstaff in June of last year. Last January, Rebecca had surgery to remove an ovarian tumor and one of her ovaries. It was not found to be cancerous at that time. Last Tuesday, she started having stomach pain and went to Flagstaff Hospital for tests. She was found to have internal bleeding and had emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. The bleeding was coming from her remaining ovary and unfortunately that ovary was positve for cancer. This was detected too late and the cancer had already spread extensively through her body. She died Sunday night of complications from the ovarian cancer and its impact on her organs. Ovarian cancer is a dangerous killer. There are no screening tests for it, and by the time you have symptoms (like stomach pain, etc) sometimes the cancer is already pretty advanced. Rebecca had a very tumultuous life, but was blessed to have a caring extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, great uncles and aunts, and many many friends. Everyone around her loved her and supported her in reaching her goals. She was living out her dream of being independant and going to college before she was taken from us too soon, just a couple weeks from her 19th birthday. Rebecca touched everyone around her with her exuberant personality and love for others. She was a believer in Christ and we are comforted now that she is in Heaven with Jesus and not suffering. Rebecca was a great friend to me and Im sad to say I wasnt a very good one to her part of the time. She would annoy me sometimes and I would annoy her. But I found it in my heart one day before graduation to set our differences aside and apologize to her and ask her to forgive me for anything I said, told her or spoke of about her to anyone. She found it in herself to forgive me without hesitation. She smiled, laughed and gave me a hug and said, Ilse, you are very brave for what you have done. Just know that Jesus loves you and has a purpose for you. AND YOU KNOW WHAT, I LOVE YOU TOO! thank you for being such great company sometimes at Apollo when you would see me alone. Keep the world smiling girl! In tears just telling you all about this I say I was so mad at myself for not being a better person, let alone a better friend to her. RIP Rebecca Larson. You not only taught me that forgiveness is not a word to be thrown around but to forgive is to really mean it from the heart. Her service will be held on Saturday, February 1st at The Calvary Chappel of Tucson on 5170 S. Julian Dr. (West Campus) Oval Room. The service will be from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. There will be pictures of her along with her ashes at her service. Her family said anyone who would want to come pay their respects is welcome to come.
