Here is a small portion of our Thursday Mid-week Bible lessons. I pray you might find a nugget of inspiration or instruction for your soul. FB Hidden Treasures: The Mysteries of the Kingdom Matthew 13:1-3, 10-11, 16-17 1 The same day went Jesus out of the house and sat by the sea side. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven [Kingdom of God] but to them it is not given. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see and have not seen them and to hear those things which ye hear and have not heard them. Jesus spoke in parables to the multitudes who followed signs and freebies. The disciples followed Jesus. The language of Jesus hid truth from the casual listener but revealed truth to the committed learner. The indifferent multitudes have no appetite for the truth of God’s word but disciplined disciples live by it. The casual drifter never see anything in God worthy of their effort to search it out. If it is not evident in the limelight they will not go looking for it in obscurity. Ye shall seek me and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart. [Jeremiah 29:13] There is treasure hidden in the Kingdom of God and it is the passionate and the persistent that find it. Proverbs 2:3-5 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge and liftest up thy voice for understanding…If thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hid treasures…then shalt thou understand…and find the knowledge of God. It saddens me to say it but there is a Christian world filled with indifferent church members. Partly because that is the way they want it and partly because it is the way that much of today’s Ministry wants it. We must do more than just sermonize. We have masters at that in all denominations including the Apostolic & Pentecostal Ranks. We wow people but we don’t covey the heart of God. God only sends messengers with a message and that is what the church of God so desperately needs. He whom God sends speaks the words of God! Church is far too much about the messenger instead of the message. Many have learned how to preach what people want to hear and refuse to deliver what they need to hear. Ministers have learned how to preach sermons that please men but void of Kingdom purpose for the saints of God. I don’t have time to waste on such Christian nonsense. I am soon to be 61 years old. I am at the age that many times physical weaknesses become all evident in our human bodies and minds. I do not know the length of my strength so I am trying with all that ‘in me is’ to convey the message of the King. I cannot afford to waste time on trivial, traditional, and denominational droppings. We have grown too casual with the crucial, too inspired by the insignificant and too tied to the trivial. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God should be our priority. Men and movements build mega churches to hold the multitudes so as to look successful to worldly and carnal societies. We are not called to gather crowds to watch our entertainment shows but we are called to mature and equip the church that Christ might be fully formed in the Corporate Expression of his Body. Jesus commissioned the ministry to go, to preach, to baptize and to make disciples among all nations. Ministry is to make disciplined followers of Jesus by teaching them to observe, obey and live all things whatsoever the Lord has commanded us. [Matthew 28:19-20] We must not measure our labor by the criteria of carnal social Christianity. In today’s Christian climate the uncommitted unconverted multitudes simply herd from stall to stall, always looking for the next big thing. It may sound like a cop out but success as a church is not measured by butts and bucks but by how many disciples are made. It is not decided by how much we accumulate or by how many we pull in to our arena. The only thing of eternal consequence is how much Christ is spiritually built in each Corporate Expression. The glory of man is fading but the Glory of God is ever increasing. It is his Glory we are commissioned to fill the world with. I assure you that I still love to teach. I love to break down words and phrases and line up points and steps to bring spiritual truths to light. However the older I grow in God and the more time I spend in the presence of the King, I desire simply to hear from the King and deliver his message. It is the message that matters! I care nothing for all of the Pentecostal Pomp and Political Posturing. Every set man, every God called preacher should walk away from the pulpit or place of ministry leaving the congregation with the lingering aroma and vision of Jesus. When the words of the preacher are silent then the words of the King should still be ringing in the ears of the hearers. When he closes the book not only should it be declared, “this day is the scripture fulfilled in your hearing” but every true child of God should know exactly what the King had to say for that Kairos moment in time. Indeed if we have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this, then preachers must declare to us what the King desires us to be and to do. Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom….May we sincerely seek the King and may we diligently declare his message. Lest any think, I am filled with negativity or I might be a preacher of gloom and doom, I assure you that I am firm believer that the King reigns. Ever shall he reign and of the end of his Kingdom and peace there shall be no end. I am simply doing my all to train every ear I can to hear and properly respond to the message of the King. In doing this, all those under my charge will be blessed to spend eternity with the King of Glory. Revelation 11:15 The seventh angel sounded and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ and he shall reign forever and ever.
