This has lead to a fascinating discussion on the ITE All Members Forum (tinyurl/oepyam6 ) about the techniques for accommodating pedestrians at such a location, and the importance of doing so. This is a teachable moment - an opportunity to stimulate discussion concerning the value of walkability in urban environments, and specific ways that this can be done.
