Here is a tip for newbies or even long timers who like tips. I am a self taught quilter, I didnt have anyone to teach me or show me what to do. When I started I wasnt sure how to pick colors. There was so many colors to choice from and I wanted my quilts to POP. I knew how to do the basic colors, but I wanted more then that. So I bought a color wheel (inexpensive at local craft supply stores). The color wheel allowed me to see what two, three or four colors would complement, contrast and so much more. One of the first quilts I did was purples and shades of rusty orange. It came out gorgeous (in my pile of MANY to get quilted). I used and used that tool and it really helped me get a feel of color. I figured if it helped me, maybe it can help some of you. Happy Quilting.
