Here is a video of me taking my dedicated client Rachael Low through her workout this morning. Shes during one the 3 sets of Split squats. During this phase we are using a front foot elevated variation which allows more range of movement in the front leg (ankle) and allows you to get deeper if you have hip flexor tightness in the non-leading leg. She is completing a 1 and 1/4 rep. In many people the VMO is undeveloped in relation to the other heads of the quad. Adding in this variation increases TUT specifically challenging the VMO. Over time using the multi-facet use and good programming of these types of accessory exercises have massively improved Rachs squat dept, overall strength and even her running as a bi-product. Nice-work.
